Hi All!
It’s Morgan, your founder, sharing exciting news. We’re updating how we pronounce BaseCampEd and it’s a story close to our hearts!
When my husband and I dreamed up this app, our love for the outdoors shaped everything. We’re hikers and climbers—heck, he proposed to me on the summit of Mount Rainier outside Seattle! We knew our company name had to echo mountains. Basecamp felt perfect—a hiker’s safe haven, a place to rest and gather. We wanted our app to be that same vibe: a hub where parents find like-minded community, a one-stop shop for all things education. That’s why we added “ED” for Education.
At first, we pronounced it like it’s spelled—‘Base-Camped’, past tense. But as more people read it, they naturally said ‘BaseCamp ED’, emphasizing the “ED.” The more I heard it, the more it clicked—focusing on “ED” highlights our active mission. Without enunciating it, it just sounded like “basecamp,” which didn’t capture our vision. So, we’re embracing ‘BaseCamp ED’!
We hope this doesn’t cause confusion—say it with us: ‘BaseCamp ED’! We’re thrilled about this rebrand, reflecting our growing community. Of course, I had to make a silly video to introduce the change, you can catch it here.
Thank you for being part of our journey!
Old: Base-Camped ✅ New: BaseCamp ED ✨
